Same-Day Porcelain Veneers in Toronto: Beautiful Porcelain Without Weeks of Waiting

You may want to improve your smile.
But you may not want to spend three or four weeks doing it.
For many patients considering porcelain veneers, the biggest obstacle is not deciding whether they want treatment. It is figuring out how to fit multiple appointments, provisional restorations and laboratory waiting time into an already busy life.
For someone travelling to Toronto, that can mean flights, hotels and repeated trips.
For a busy professional, it can mean repeatedly taking time away from work.
And for someone preparing for a wedding, photoshoot, important event or move, several weeks may simply not be available.

What if the same careful smile-design process could sometimes be completed without the traditional laboratory waiting period?
At Toronto Smile Design, selected porcelain veneer cases can now be completed using our CEREC same-day and accelerated porcelain veneer workflow.
For appropriate cases involving approximately 4 to 10 veneers, treatment may sometimes be completed on the same day or within approximately 24 hours.
For larger selected cases involving up to 20 veneers, treatment may sometimes be completed over approximately 48 hours.
The goal is not to rush dentistry.
The goal is to remove unnecessary waiting.
The Problem With Traditional Veneer Treatment Isn't Always the Dentistry
Traditional porcelain veneers commonly involve several stages.
After the smile is designed and the teeth are prepared, impressions or digital scans are sent to a dental laboratory. A technician fabricates the restorations, the patient wears temporary restorations, and the final porcelain returns several weeks later for try-in and bonding.
There is nothing wrong with this process.
In fact, for some complex cases, it remains exactly the process we recommend.
But there is one unavoidable limitation:
TIME.
Much of that time is not spent treating the patient.
It is spent transferring information to the laboratory, scheduling production, fabricating the restorations externally and waiting for them to return.
We asked ourselves a simple question:
What if we could bring much of that process inside our own practice?
That question became especially important when Dr. Andry Medina joined Toronto Smile Design.

Meet Dr. Andry Medina: A Dentist Who Understands Both Sides of the Veneer
Dr. Medina's background is unusual.
Before joining our clinical team, he had accumulated more than 19 years of experience in dentistry, with advanced expertise in restorative, aesthetic, and digital dentistry.
But there is another part of his career that makes him particularly valuable to our digital veneer workflow.
He also has extensive dental laboratory and CAD/CAM experience.
For more than seven years, Dr. Medina developed significant experience working with digital dental design, CAD/CAM systems and laboratory procedures.
Before joining Toronto Smile Design as a dentist, Dr. Medina worked at RDT Dental Laboratory, where he was personally involved in many restorative cases being completed by Dr. Johnson Ozgur while working through the Canadian dental equivalency process.
So our collaboration did not begin when he joined the practice. It began years earlier. Dr. Johnson would plan and prepare the clinical case. Dr. Medina would understand the restorative side of that same case from the laboratory perspective.
Today, they are able to bring those two skill sets together under one roof.
Why His Laboratory Background Matters
Making a porcelain veneer involves much more than pressing a button on a milling machine.
Someone has to understand:
tooth proportions
emergence profiles
contact points
incisal edge position
surface anatomy
porcelain thickness
translucency
texture
contours
the relationship between the teeth and lips
how the restorations function during biting and jaw movement
Traditionally, many of these responsibilities are shared between two highly trained professionals:
"the dentist and the dental technician."
The dentist understands the patient, biology, preparation and function. The technician understands restoration design, ceramic materials, morphology and fabrication. Finding a dentist with substantial experience on both sides of that process is uncommon. That is what Dr. Medina brings to our accelerated veneer workflow. He is not simply operating digital equipment. He understands how the restoration is actually created. That distinction matters.

How Same-Day Porcelain Veneers Work
Technology allows us to work faster. But technology is only useful when it is placed inside a disciplined treatment-planning process. Our same-day veneer workflow does not begin with preparing teeth.
It begins with understanding the patient.
Step 1: Consultation and Diagnosis
We first need to understand what you want to change.
Is it the colour?
The length of the teeth?
Their proportions?
Spacing?
Worn edges?
Old restorations?
The relationship between your smile and your face?
We also evaluate your existing teeth, gums and bite. Because veneers should not simply look good when you smile for a photograph. They also have to function inside a moving mouth.
Step 2: Design the Smile Before Changing the Teeth
Whenever possible, we want to know where we are going before we remove tooth structure.
Your photographs, facial information and digital scans are used to design the proposed smile.
This allows us to evaluate tooth length, width, position and proportion before beginning treatment.
Step 3: Test-Drive the Smile
One of the most important parts of our workflow is the mock-up.
The proposed smile can often be transferred temporarily into your mouth so you can see it on your own face before treatment begins.
You can look at the proportions.
You can smile.
You can speak.
You can give us feedback.
This is important for another reason.
When we know exactly where the final tooth is supposed to be, we can often determine much more precisely where preparation is necessary and where it is not.
That supports one of our central treatment philosophies:
preserve as much natural tooth structure as reasonably possible.
The accelerated workflow does not eliminate this step.
What Changes With CEREC?
After the treatment has been approved and the teeth are ready, they are digitally scanned. There is no traditional impression that needs to be packaged and shipped to an outside laboratory. The restorations can then be digitally designed inside our practice.
This is where having someone like Dr. Medina becomes especially valuable. The design does not simply disappear into an external production chain. The team creating the restorations understands the clinical objective, the digital workflow and the laboratory principles behind the final ceramic.
The veneers are then milled from ceramic blocks in our practice using CEREC technology. They are finished, characterized when necessary, tried in and evaluated.
We assess:
fit
contacts
shape
colour
smile appearance
bite
function
Only after those steps are completed are the final restorations bonded.
What Happens If Your Case Takes 24 or 48 Hours?
This is an important distinction. You will never leave our office with prepared teeth left uncovered. If your final porcelain veneers are not being bonded during the same visit, we will provide temporary restorations before you leave. These provisionals protect the prepared teeth and allow you to function and smile normally while the final ceramic restorations are being completed. So there are several possible workflows.
Same-Day Veneers
In an appropriate smaller case, the preparation, scanning, design, milling, finishing and final bonding may all take place within the same treatment day.
The patient remains in the treatment process until the final restorations are completed.
Approximately 24-Hour Veneers
Some cases require additional design, finishing or production time.
If you leave the practice before the final restorations are ready, you will leave wearing temporary restorations and return for final try-in and bonding.
Approximately 48-Hour Veneers
Larger cases, including selected upper and lower veneer cases, may require treatment over approximately two days. Again, whenever there is a period between preparation and final delivery, temporary restorations are provided. The advantage is not that temporaries are never used.
The advantage is that the provisional phase may last hours or a day or two rather than several weeks.
The Real Advantage: Shortening the Waiting Period
This is the more accurate way to understand accelerated veneers.
Traditional treatment may involve wearing provisional restorations for two or three weeks while the dental laboratory completes the final ceramic.
With an in-house digital workflow, that provisional phase can sometimes be shortened dramatically.
For a travelling patient, that can make an enormous difference.
Instead of:
Toronto → preparation → temporaries → return home → wait several weeks → return to Toronto → final veneers
the treatment may sometimes become:
Toronto → design → preparation → temporary restorations if required → final porcelain within 24 – 48 hours → home
That can significantly reduce travel and disruption without removing important clinical steps.

Who Is Same-Day or 48-Hour Veneer Treatment For?
Our accelerated workflow can be particularly helpful for:
Patients travelling to Toronto who want to reduce the number of trips required
Busy professionals who find multiple appointments difficult to schedule
Patients working toward a wedding, photoshoot, presentation or important event
People preparing to move or travel abroad
Patients who would prefer not to spend several weeks in temporary restorations
Appropriate cosmetic cases involving approximately 4, 6, 8 or 10 veneers
Selected larger transformations involving upper and lower veneers that may be suitable for a 48-hour workflow
But there is an important point.
Faster does not automatically mean better for every patient.
What We Refuse to Sacrifice for Speed
Same-day veneers should never mean rushed veneers.
The speed comes primarily from reducing external laboratory delays.
It does not mean eliminating diagnosis.
It does not mean skipping the smile design.
It does not mean skipping the mock-up.
It does not mean preparing teeth before understanding where the final teeth should be.
It does not mean leaving prepared teeth unprotected.
And it does not mean bonding restorations simply because they came out of the milling machine.
The fundamental steps remain.
Diagnose. Design. Test-drive. Prepare conservatively. Scan. Protect the teeth when needed. Design the porcelain. Mill. Finish. Evaluate. Try in. Bond.
The process becomes more efficient because several traditionally separate stages can occur within the same practice.

When We Will Tell You Not to Choose Same-Day Veneers
One of the most important parts of being your dentist is knowing when not to recommend the fastest option.
There are situations where we may recommend conventional laboratory fabrication or a longer treatment sequence.
Major Bite Changes
If we are significantly changing the vertical dimension of occlusion or reorganizing how your teeth function together, the case may need to be staged.
Sometimes the mouth needs time to adapt before final restorations should be made.
Full-Mouth Rehabilitation
Cases combining veneers with crowns, onlays, implants or extensive restorative treatment often benefit from a more comprehensive phased approach.
Complex Ceramic Characterization
Some smiles require extremely sophisticated colour effects, internal characterization or hand-layered porcelain.
In these situations, working with a master ceramist may provide optical effects better suited to the individual case.
Gum Surgery or Crown Lengthening
If the gums need to be repositioned significantly, healing may be required before the final porcelain is fabricated.
Cases Where We Need More Information
Sometimes the correct answer is simply:
not yet.
If we do not have enough information to proceed predictably, we would rather slow the process down than compromise the result.
Same-Day Veneers Are Not About Doing Dentistry Faster
They are about removing delays between good dentistry. That distinction is important.
CEREC enables us to fabricate restorations in our practice. Digital scanning eliminates the need for physical impressions and laboratory shipping.
Chairside design allows us to work directly from the smile we have planned. But technology alone does not create beautiful veneers. People do. And that is why adding Dr. Andry Medina to our team has made such an important difference to this workflow.
His combination of clinical dentistry, digital dentistry, CAD/CAM design and hands-on dental laboratory experience allows us to approach same-day and accelerated porcelain veneers from a different perspective.
The goal is not simply to mill porcelain quickly.
The goal is to create the right restoration for the right patient using the right workflow.
You Shouldn't Have to Choose Between Your Time and Your Smile
If you have been considering porcelain veneers but the traditional multi-week process has been holding you back, there may now be another option.
For the right patient, it may be possible to complete a carefully planned porcelain veneer transformation within one day. For larger selected cases, treatment may be completed over approximately 24 to 48 hours.
And when temporary restorations are required between preparation and final bonding, you will leave the office protected with provisionals.
If we believe your smile would be better served by taking more time, we will tell you that too.
Because the objective is not to give everyone same-day veneers.
The objective is to find the best way to give you the smile you came for—while preserving your teeth, respecting your time and never allowing speed to become more important than quality.
Could You Be a Candidate for Same-Day Porcelain Veneers?
The first step is a consultation.
We need to see your teeth, evaluate your bite, understand what you want to change and determine whether an accelerated CEREC workflow is appropriate for your particular case.
